The problem
Re-reading and highlighting feel like knowing, but they stick poorly. Memory fades fast when nothing calls on it at the right moment. The result: you revise a lot, retain little, and start over.
What we believe
Two principles change everything: testing yourself rather than re-reading, and spacing your reviews for the moment they count. That is spaced repetition, today powered by the open-source FSRS algorithm.
The catch: existing tools often demand hours of configuration, or stay simple card piles with no real scheduling. We wanted the rigour, without the friction.
What Memnos is
A web app that turns your notes into cards, makes you answer before showing the solution, and schedules every reminder for you — with nothing to configure. You can start without an account and generate your cards from a piece of text.
Our commitments
- A free plan, forever: reviewing and exporting your cards will never be locked.
- Your cards stay yours: export at any time, hosting in Europe, no reselling of your data.
- No traps: no dark patterns, no mandatory account to try it, and a future Pro plan announced clearly and in advance.
- Respect for your privacy: we never send the content of your cards off for analysis (see the privacy policy).
Who is behind it
Memnos is an independent French project, built by a small team, currently in beta. No fundraising, no growth-at-all-costs target: just the intent to build an honest, durable memorisation tool.
